Trump was in the middle of a press conference when a Secret Service agent approached him and he left. Reports are that shots were fired near the White House, though Secret Service doesn’t come into national press briefings for minimal threats.

Sounded like a gun shot right outside the White House. Secret service making press clear the lawn. Law enforcement holding guns everywhere. pic.twitter.com/KQx6HWcKij

Whatever threat presented itself, it must have been perceived as serious enough to interrupt a national press conference. The Secret Service isn’t naive to the ramifications of a decision such as this, seen by the entire country. Hopefully they clear the threat soon.
